[Report]
It has been revealed that opinions for and against the Government Employees Pension reform plan are clearly divided between young and middle-aged people and older people.
In a recent public opinion poll, 31% of respondents supported the Government Employees Pension reform plan, while 42% opposed it; however, by age group, support was 44% and opposition was 29% among those aged 60 and older.
Conversely, among respondents in their 30s to 50s, opposition was up to 24 percentage points higher than support. This directly reflects the criticism that senior civil servants aged 60 and older are "protecting their vested interests."

"Considering the reality that population aging is progressing rapidly, the fertility rate is falling, and low growth is becoming entrenched, future generations have no choice but to endure a significant level of pain compared to previous generations."
Regarding the level of Government Employees Pension reform to "pay more and receive less" than now, the most common response was that results are below expectations, with 37% of respondents evaluating it as "insufficient."
This is also interpreted as a direct expression of the burden and frustration felt by the younger generation regarding finances piled with debt.
