Pension Future Forum's Reply to the Email from the Swedish Government (Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, MOHS)

Dear Kristoffer Lundberg,

Thank you for your email.

Our meeting at the Swedish Ambassador's residence was very informative.

Despite having a higher birth rate than Korea, the Swedish government's various efforts to prepare for the future were impressive.

The public pension, which will have a significant impact on Korea's future, is still unsustainable when evaluated from various perspectives.

Although the National Pension Act amendment passed last March after much debate, younger generations perceive the amendment as being significantly disadvantageous to them.

As the leader of the Pension Research Association, I have been working diligently to introduce the automatic adjustment mechanism of the Swedish pension system to Korea since 1999.

I hope that we can maintain a continued cooperative relationship with the Swedish government regarding pension reform, which could have the greatest impact on Korean society in the future due to Korea's current extremely low birth rate.

Currently, South Korea is enjoying the Lunar New Year holiday, one of Korea's traditional holidays.
