“Delegating the National Pension’s Voting Rights to the Private Sector? That’s Like Entrusting a Fish Shop to a Cat” — Article on the Public Pension Strengthening People’s Action’s Claim (February 24, 2026)

(The Pension Future Forum held its 12th and 13th seminars on the themes of “Strengthening the National Pension’s Stewardship Code” and “Improving the Governance Structure of National Pension Fund Management.”
The main purpose was to affirm that the National Pension must not infringe on the autonomy of corporate management or fund management.
Recently, the government has been showing a somewhat more forward-leaning stance on this issue.
The Pension Future Forum, for now, supports this recent forward-leaning shift in the government’s position!
Unlike the Pension Future Forum, the Public Pension Strengthening People’s Action, which led the deterioration of the National Pension on March 20, 2025,
has come out to criticize this forward-leaning stance of the government.
We attach the related article.)
The Public Pension Strengthening People’s Action (Pension Action), which includes some 300 labor, civic and social organizations including People’s Solidarity for Participatory Democracy and the two national trade union federations, on the 24th
urged that “the government must immediately halt discussions aimed at transferring the National Pension’s voting rights to private asset management firms.”
