The Reality of Japan’s Public Pension in Operation (1) — An Ordinary Middle-Income Worker

According to the YouTube material attached,
in Japan
a worker at the average income level,
earning 4.5 million won a month,
who over 30 years
pays contributions of 18.3% (including the employer’s share),
can expect a pension of 1.3 million won a month.
What is distinctive compared with Korea is that
the same contribution applies to the full amount of the monthly pay
in the months in which a bonus is received.
The labor movement, civic organizations
and no small number of politicians led
the amendment of the National Pension Act of March 20, 2025,
which raised the National Pension’s income replacement rate
from 40% to 43% with immediate effect while
raising contributions from 9% to 13% over eight years.
That this amendment
was a deceptive change for the worse, one that exploits future generations,
is shown
with the utmost clarity
by the YouTube video
attached here.
The Public Pension Strengthening People’s Action,
its officials included, and
the politicians
who claim that this is reform,
and the self-styled experts,
must give a public answer.
Besides the YouTube video,
key scenes have been captured and attached, so
we ask for a clear explanation!
