(If, even under such circumstances,
national debt were to increase further,
could such management of the nation's finances
be considered normal state governance!)
The semiconductor industry boom has driven national tax revenues into a "supercycle." The strong performance of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix is affecting major tax categories, including corporate tax, income tax, and securities transaction tax.
Projections have emerged that national tax revenues for this year will increase by more than 100 trillion won compared to two years ago.
According to relevant government ministries on the 17th, the projection for national tax revenues this year officially confirmed to date stands at 415.4 trillion won. This figure represents the revised tax revenue estimate prepared when the supplementary budget was drafted.
The government, which had originally projected national tax revenues of 390.2 trillion won, determined that an additional 25.2 trillion won would flow in this year.
However, national tax revenues are projected to increase even further.
This is because major companies reported stronger first-quarter earnings than at the time of the government's revised estimate. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix recorded first-quarter operating profits of 57.2 trillion won and 37.6 trillion won, respectively, exceeding market expectations.
