(In light of the persistent media reports rejecting the need to introduce an automatic adjustment mechanism without a proper understanding of the concept,
the Pension Future Forum wishes to set forth its official position.)
Before criticizing whether an automatic adjustment mechanism should be adopted,
critics are urged to first develop an accurate understanding of the concept of the automatic adjustment mechanism and of the approach to its introduction that would be appropriate for Korean conditions, and only then to offer substantive criticism!!
For reference purposes, the following document—which has been frequently cited since the Moon Jae-in administration—is attached:
a National Assembly Research Service commissioned study (2022) examining the operational status of the Canada Pension Plan (CPP).
