The Private Advisory Committee of the National Assembly Special Committee on Pension Reform, which is deliberating proposals for the structural reform of the National Pension, held four sessions but succeeded only in confirming the depth of disagreement, failing to narrow the divide.
(excerpt)At the session, Park Myung-ho, Co-Chair of the Private Advisory Committee, stated that "reaching a consensus in the course of deliberations proved extremely difficult," adding that "divergences in perspective and position continued to surface throughout the discussions."
Joo Eun-sun, the other Co-Chair of the Private Advisory Committee, likewise remarked that "over the course of four sessions, the meetings proceeded by surfacing disagreements across major themes and overarching issues."

Representative Park Su-min of the People Power Party stated at the session that "fiscal sustainability and income security are parallel tracks that cannot converge," and that "the matter must not be delegated to the Private Advisory Committee to resolve."
Representative Nam In-soon of the Democratic Party of Korea also remarked that "rather than reaching conclusions, the Private Advisory Committee should play a role in compiling the arguments for each position, and the National Assembly should use that to establish its own order of priorities."
Meanwhile, the Pension Future Forum, in a statement issued that afternoon, declared that "the most essential rationale for constituting the Special Committee is to deliberate on enhancing intergenerational equity and pursuing structural reform of the National Pension toward long-term sustainability," and urged that "the progress of future developments must be monitored with close attention."
