Lee Eok-won, Chairman of the Financial Services Commission, announced on the 28th that the government would ease regulations so that leveraged exchange-traded funds (ETFs) tracking twice the return of a single blue-chip domestic stock could be launched. However, tracking at 3x was excluded for the sake of investor protection.

Chairman Lee said, "In the United States as well, new products launched since 2020 are not permitted to go up to 3x, and the 3x ETF products that currently exist were created before 2020," adding "we also have to consider investor protection, so we will not permit 3x," he said.
